I teach high school students in what is considered a "high needs" community. Majority of my students live in the neighborhood where my school is located. I teach general and special education math in my school. The students I teach have many obstacles ahead of them, but no matter how many obstacles are placed in front of them, they continue to persevere. My school does not have a home economics class and it is not in the budget for them to offer one. I fear many of my students will graduate without some of the basic skills that they may need in life. I volunteered to establish a culinary club for my students after school, and many students signed the petition for the program, but my school can not afford the start up costs. I do not want to disappoint my students, and would greatly appreciate your assistance in making this dream a reality.
