I have a big, bright class, bursting with energy and enthusiasm. With 30 students and counting, our classroom community is tight in more ways than one. I am awestruck every day by the support and encouragement that these students offer one another. Our school is located in a low-income neighborhood, but community involvement is growing. Unfortunately, in the last few years we lost our art and music programs due to budget cuts. It was devastating to see children who really felt connected and successful in music or art lose that joy in school. Recently, we regained a part-time art teacher (woo-hoo!), but we still lack a music program. I would love to see students regain focus and creativity through music in our school.
