Literacy is a crucial skill that is necessary for us to be successful in today's world. My students have various learning disabilities that make learning how to read more challenging for them. Many of them are reading at least one grade-level below 4th Grade expectations. Our classroom library is unequipped to deal with the needs of my students because we do not have enough books on my students' levels. I want my students to have opportunities to read interesting books rather than the paper books I need to print out since we do not have a lot of books on their levels. By creating a fully-stocked library in our class, my students will develop a passion for literacy and see how books can take them on adventures. I want them to see how these books can teach them about the world, show them characters that are similar to the people in their lives, all while building their reading skills.
