There is nothing better than engaged students debating their ideas and explaining strategies because they feel comfortable and confident to take academic risks. I already have rocking chairs, lap tables, floor cushions, and noise canceling headphones. My students recently voiced that they want more seating options, especially rocking chairs, more so more students can use them. Many students enter a math class already feeling anxious. Being comfortable and able to move helps students feel comfortable, stay engaged in lessons, and learn more. We are all more able to take risks when we know we are in a safe and comfortable place.
