I have the privilege of teaching 24 of the sweetest, most hard-working students you will ever meet. They greet me each morning with a contagious smile and are eager to start the day. Their excitement about learning challenges me to be a better teacher, and for that, I will be forever grateful. For many of my students, English is their second language, so reading and comprehending what they are reading can be extremely difficult. Over half of my students this year entered fourth grade not being able to read on a fourth grade level. Many of my students are from migrant families. Along with a language barrier, moving from state to state makes it difficult for them in the classroom. I'm completely amazed by their resilient spirits and their hard work in my classroom each day.
