My 8th grade students are surrounded by technology such as: social media, music players, cellphones and some also have smart-phones. It would be great if learning/lessons were available in all classrooms in this way. The students want to learn and be engaged through active practice and collaboration in Math, Science, Language Arts, current events and the Global World using current technology. Studies have shown students learn best when they are active learners rather than passive learners (1993). I want them to be active participants and explore our integrated science curriculum about our Thirsty Planet, Epidemics, Chemistry in our Lives and Our Changing Earth through relevant up-to-date digital media. If our 8th Grade students need to be engaged in understanding and building a connected, just and sustainable world for the future - I need those 21st century tools to do this.
