My students are remarkable K-5th graders. Our inner city school nurtures over 3/4 of our students from low socioeconomic statuses, however this does not define who they are. Some of our students grow up in an environment where education may not always be a top priority. Basic needs may not always be met and responsibilities such as caring for younger siblings get in the way of studying or homework, however these young scholars come to school and give their all every day. As teachers, we teach with our hearts and souls everyday, but sometimes these outside factors overwhelm our students so much that they fall significantly behind in school. My students are brights, hard working, charismatic and creative. They set their minds to their goals and allow their weaknesses to be a motivation to push forward.
