Our school is located in a suburban area in New York State where most of the students receive free or reduced lunch. Many of our students are homeless and live in homeless shelters; my classroom is the highlight of their day. School is an escape from extremely sad living conditions. I have a group of 30 students, who come from homes where Spanish is the spoken language, and as a result, require intensive reading instruction. Some of my students' parents are illiterate and are not able to help their children academically. My students and I are extremely grateful for the help we receive. Thank you!
