The students at CHS are of diverse ethnicity, but tend to share similar difficulties in life. Most are behind on credits, many have not been successful in traditional programs, and approximately 74% of them live below the poverty line. Their education here involves learning social skills, gaining competency in reading, writing, science, and math, and learning skills that will make them viable candidates for college or the job market. This is an especially difficult challenge, as we have little parental support and have to fund raise our budgets for any activities, including Robotics.
