I want to help my students understand that they can learn a language by doing more than memorizing lists of vocabulary and grammar rules. This year, I plan to revamp my own instructional style and transition away from these lists. To help students build their confidence and abilities, I intend to provide my students with more opportunities to see the language in context primarily by using stories. Reading is a prefect means by which to support understanding a second language as well as build enthusiasm and confidence in students. I want the students to have the opportunity to read for fun in the language so I've chosen a variety of topics as well as books that are recommended by other teachers on the same path.
