My students come from a very low socioeconomic background. Many of their parents are illiterate or have limited resources to bring literature into the home. They get so excited over books! One of the very few times a day that they actually sit still and are quiet for any length of time is during "story time". They get so excited when we receive a new library collection delivered by the public library each month.
