I teach in a rural school. This year, the majority of my students come from a split family home. This makes it very difficult for the students to always have with them what they need. They are constantly saying "I left that at my mom's and I was at my dad's last night." This has forced me to have to have more items available for them to use at school. The kids are so sweet. They really do all try their hardest. I have one little girl who was complaining that she didn't understand something. Another student looked at her and said, "All you have to do is try your hardest. That is what I try to do." It about broke my heart because this little boy does not have much and struggles a lot in school. The students all really look out for one another and really try and do their best.
