My special education students have incredible challenges facing them in this technological age. Not only are our students facing more academic challenges than ever before, our special education students are being held to that same standard. Special education students at my school not only face academic challenges, but they also face economic challenges as well (My School is 88% SES disadvantaged). Most students do not have a computer at home, and if they are fortunate enough to have a computer, most do not have Internet access. In this age, our students are expected to graduate from high school with advanced technological skills. The special education students I teach need access to technological advancement as well.
