My students are first graders who attend an elementary school in California. First grade is a critical year in which they learn reading skills and practice these skills to build fluency and comprehension. In order to grow in their reading, they need to have access to tools that will help them become better readers. One way is for students to listen to a fluent reader and track along in their books to understand intonation, punctuation, grammar usage, etc. I have 30 students in my classroom and it is essential for me to work with small groups to be able to provide assistance to each child, especially those who are struggling. My students come from many different backgrounds and abilities and it is my goal to motivate them to read, read, read!
