My students are 7th graders who are developing their algebraic thinking and how it applies to other aspects of mathematics including geometry, measurement, probability, and statistics. As Arizona moves into the Common Core Standards, students will be expected to not only apply the math they are being taught, but also how it looks in their every day life. Having concrete items for them to use and manipulate will help make difficult connections. By having dice, spinners, cubes, and other items; students will be able to visually see how math can come alive and how it truly is EVERYWHERE!
