My students are amazing!! I teach in one of the only historically African- American High School in South Carolina. 97% of students in my school are African-American and 95% of the students are on free and reduced lunch. They are fun and inquisitive bunch and each day I walk in class they never cease to amaze me. Despite all the obstacles they face in their home live many of them show resilience and are determine to better their current situations. My school is labels "At- Risk" but students and teachers are continuing to make gains and turn the school around. It is always exciting for me to see my students faces light up when they are allowed to perform science experiments. Many of my students are hand-on learners and I use 21st century science protocol and lab experiments to keep them engaged and inspired.
