Physical education is a critical component to healthy development in children. Our outdoor classroom struggles to keep up with the latest technological innovations in this field. Our students will use pedometers, fitness trackers and heart rate monitors but this information remains inaccessible because we do not have the right tools to process this data. We feel that an iPad will allow us to consolidate and analyze this data to the benefit of our students, allowing us to monitor baseline starting points and measure quantifiable growth throughout the year. In addition, this iPad would be used to assist us in facilitating different aspects of the physical education curriculum. For example, Music will be stored on it for our dance and movement unit. In this unit, students learn both physical coordination and dance techniques, as well as personal expression. Using an iPad for education and fun, a dream come true!
