I teach in a very small Title 1 school district. We are a very poor rural community where over 50% of our population is under the poverty line. The students have very little opportunity for experiences outside of a 20 mile radius. The only exposure most of the students have to life bigger than their neighborhood, is through school. We have very little assistance from the state of Texas due to budget cutbacks, however our district has tried very hard not to cut teacher jobs like many other districts were forced to do. However, that means we must get creative with fundraising. Hopefully someone out there will be willing to help us!
