Many of the students I work with are from loving, but extremely stressed, low income homes. Time spent on homework and academic studies is a luxury, while household chores and additional jobs are a necessity. More than half of our student population qualifies for free and reduced lunch, and funds from parental incomes are spent on items required for survival. Across the county, the struggling economy has had a major budget impact, affecting classroom, teacher, and school funds, in a highly negative way.

About my class
