I have a group of 25 hilarious and hopeful 3rd graders who come from various backgrounds. Some kids have strong parent support others do not have such a strong parent presence however it does not change their resilience to learn. They attend a charter school in an area where many schools are not making AYP...we are different because of our kids resilience. They always make AYP. Although the kids don't really understand what this means in the big picture, it gives them a goal to keep up their success and shows them they are in a place of leadership.
