My students attend an urban Oklahoma middle school that is 100% free and reduced lunch. Our building is currently under renovation and students are often discouraged by the lack of supplies, facilities, and sometimes even desks, at our aging school. Despite these challenges, I know that my students enjoy working with their hands; our shop class and engineering club are our most popular electives. My students are very passionate, but not always curious. Developing curiosity is one of my main goals for them this year. Many are English Language Learners and struggle with the text book, film, or lecture presentations. Tactile learning is essential for improving their understanding and will help foster their curiosity.
