My science class is filled with incredibly motivated, bright, young 6th graders. All my students are Inner-City kids who chose to attend our public charter 6th - 8th school, which is in the heart of our city. In my class, we participate in daily, hands-on science that encourages higher-level thinking and real world application. Just recently, we completed persuasive letters to our district Councilman. The letters detailed college-level environmental science concepts that my students mastered through their hands-on investigations. Our school qualifies for Title 1 funds and most of our students receive free or reduced meals. Regardless of where we come from, we all love our school and our culture of learning and respect. Our school truly is a special place, where teachers and students are motivated to do their best and be their best everyday.
