The students within this district are no strangers to hardship. Being placed within the group of "40 Lowest Performing Schools" has given both students and teachers a new found sense of urgency to achieve greatness within the next five years. Within my classroom, many come without what one would consider the "basics". Hygiene, nutrition, and general welfare are often overlooked in large families who are under extreme pressure to provide for their children. As a Title I school, many believe these students receive extra monies on top of the federal funding. With the unfortunate perils this school faces, these extra funds rarely reach the classroom. Your donation could be the spark to ignite the fire of change to close the achievement gap!
