I teach a group of 7th graders who are eager, intelligent and, at times, rambunctious. However- their schools have failed them. Most of my students read below grade level and many of them do not like school. Over the school year, I have realized that they don't like school because of the challenges they have to face. They do not have supplies, they cannot read or write well and they have not, until they met me, been held to high and rigorous academic standards. However, they are capable. In the short months that I have gotten to know them, I have seen growth in their reading and writing, simply because they have been reading an writing everyday in my class.

About my class
