Our school is located in the heart of Milwaukee's inner city. 97% of my students receive free or reduced rate lunch. This indicates that they are living at or below the poverty line. Consequently school becomes an essential place for them to feel safe, learn, eat, receive health care and be part of a growing community. As second graders they are active and curious. Our room is a constant buzz! We love to sing, create and learn. Most of our learning is done out of our desks in whole group on the carpet or spread out in centers around the room.
