Mindfulness practice has gained popularity in classrooms because it has shown to work. It helps children to regulate their emotions and manage stress. Many children do not learn stress management. Many students, like mine, are being raised in low socioeconomic environments where families don't have experience in coaching children with emotional regulation. Resilience must be learned in order to navigate the rigors of adulthood. I incorporate this practice with these wonderful 4 and 5 year olds and find that it makes a tremendous difference. Tempers and tears can flare up in a classroom this size with only one adult available for problem solving, but these kids have learned how to regulate their emotions, thoughts and bodies. I've seen it happen and I want these yoga mats to keep the momentum going. We only have 2, and they wait so long to have their 'turn' on the mat. It's so sad to see their faces when they get passed over. Please help provide just a few so that these lovely souls can be rewarded and enjoy their practice more comfortably. Thank you.
