My third grade students are quite a mixture; many of of them are second language learners and very sweet. They love mathematics because I try every day to make the lessons interesting and applicable to daily life applications. This is one of the reasons that we always use math to create our own bird feeders each school year. We also like to use plenty of manipulatives to help make difficult concepts, such as fractions, more concrete and understandable.
