My students are very diverse group of students and in many cases very disadvantaged students from a large metropolitan school district in Indianapolis, Indiana. The school has had to deal with loss of revenue, resource losses, and the budget cuts that are ripping through the state of Indiana. They attend one of the largest schools in the state and have a lot at their fingertips, except touch technology (example: Tablet Computers). To become even more well-versed with their ever-changing world, they need to not only experience these tools, but master them in an academic medium. My students have amazing potential, they simply struggle with taking what they claim to know (new technology) and actually utilizing its capabilities for advancement beyond Face book, Instant gram, Twitter, etc. If they could harness the power within these tools and see the potential within themselves, I feel as if the very diverse world they live everyday would open their futures to endless possibilities.
