About my class

My students are enthusiastic third graders that attend their neighborhood school. Many of their families speak another language(s) at home and academic language is new for everyone. My students are motivated by non-fiction. TFK is a perfect resource for them because it is relevant and lends well to critical thinking & interesting topics. With limited resources at home most families are thrilled to have guidance and a vehicle to support their child's academics. The on-line components will extend what we do in school and support family involvement along with meeting the reading levels of Kindergarten-4th grade in my class on-line. Parents can use this to support their family's learning & the content taught to their children in school. After 6 years teaching in this fabulous community, I have found that if you give families resources and teach them how to use them, they practice with their children at home and the outcomes are amazing for everyone involved!
