Embracing empathy and developing compassion is two important goals for my students. Each year we spend a couple of weeks learning about the genre of historical fiction, and we read books and host discussions in the form of book clubs. We are limited with dated books that are difficult for the students to read, and we do not have enough historical fiction books that also embrace a diverse background. With your help, my students will have award-winning literature that supports healthy discussions and literature that helps us learn, grow and change.
