My fifth grade math and science classroom is made up of predominately English language learners with limited exposure to the natural world around them, but a TON of enthusiasm about learning. They are serious scholars who are motivated to do their best, and for many of them, be the first in their families to attend college. Understanding directions or new concepts can be challenging for them when presented orally. Currently, I do my best to use the whiteboard, overhead projector, and pictures I've printed out, but this only goes so far.

About my class
