My students are writers. They will need pencils, a pencil sharpener, highlighters and markers for writing so a lack of supplies won't hinder their ability to develop into effective writers. They must be able to demonstrate expository text as well as conventions for writing. Reading is essential to their growth as writing. Students remain after school for tutoring and need snacks to help during this long transition. Our students need supplies to assemble their work to review mistakes so they can make revisions as needed. We have discussions during reading and each student responds for their peers to review and make comments as well as highlilight important points of each passage.
