Third graders often have a difficult time sitting still. Students in my classroom will have a new seating opportunity this year. Instead of traditional classroom chairs, students may choose to work in a giant roma chair, or while sitting on a balance ball. They may also choose air stability wobble chairs and cushions that gently roll with a child's natural movements, so students may concentrate easily and stay focused. Our ordinary chairs force growing bodies into unnatural, static positions that are uncomfortable and don't help a child's posture. Kids can sit, wiggle, and fidget while sitting on these chairs and cushions while intuitively exercising their back muscles and working out their restless energy in comfort and support while learning. This project will equip each student desk with a bouncy band. These bands will help high energy workers fidget without distracting others. They will discreetly soothe student anxiety, frustration, and hyperactivity. These supplies will be a welcome addition to my classroom by helping my ADD/ADHD and other active students focus during instruction and seat work throughout the day.
