The students in my school come into class every day sometimes wearing the same clothes from the day before and dealing with extreme troubles at home that no person, let alone student, should have to deal with. Most of my students deal with the struggles of being a minority in a society where the education system is stacked against them. However, they come to school with the biggest hearts, spirits and eagerness to learn I have ever seen. These students have never been told "they CAN," but when they are, they DO! Our society struggles to understand that every child should be given the gift of education regardless of socioeconomic status and regardless of their skin color. My students are here to beat the system and stand up against stereotypes to become successful students and individuals in society.
