My students are third graders. It is the last year that they have formal reading training. Our school is very rural. Most of the families are from the lower socioeconomic portion of society. They care about their kids, but they are not able to provide "extras" for them. Students need to practice their reading, to become fluent. The problem is that many of my families do not have books at home. I want to send books home with them for the summer. They would keep the books, or share them with someone else who would like to read them.
