Our school population includes at-risk students from a nearby housing project who view their classrooms as their "safe place." Here they receive positive adult attention, food, and security. Because they have few family learning experiences, such as trips to the zoo, we work extra hard at increasing their basic knowledge and vocabulary, so they can catch up with their non-poverty peers. These young people can be the scientists and engineers of tomorrow -- they just need some extra help!

About my class
