My students are curious, enthusiastic, and motivated learners. We are a small, urban public school in California that is going into our sixth year. The students are a big part of creating the positive and inclusive environment that is making our new school so successful. During the past year while our school site was being brought up to code, my students showed their resilience and flexibility through constant construction, which included our moving classrooms twice. I encourage my students to be self-directed in their learning and delve deeper into the topics that capture their interest. I will have most of my students again this coming school year as we are a growing school, and I am moving up the grades with them.
