My school is an inner city Oklahoma public school. Last year when I taught my Civil War unit, my students wanted to collect funds for the Civil War Trust. They were able to collect $100, which was then matched 10 to 1. They are an amazing bunch of kids! We have made great gains in the past few years, but I see that my students need more time dedicated to the study of the founding of the United States. I am developing this unit where the children will actively participate in the learning process.
