My first graders are part of a multicultural classroom/school. My students have limited access to computer technology as we are 2 to 1 with devices and carts of 14 laptops are shared between two classrooms. My students live in a suburban area, including a large apartment complex housing many families new to the United States. Over 1/3 of my students are English Language Learners representing more than 5 different languages. This has made listening and speaking skills vital to academic and social success. Our elementary school is pre-school through 5th grade. We have over 650 students, of which 140 are 1st graders.
