My bilingual kindergarten students range in age from 4 to 7 years old and speak varying levels of English. Almost all of my students are the first generation of their families to be born in the United States, and a few have come here from El Salvador only very shortly before their first day of kindergarten. They are enthusiastic and intelligent, but the majority do not have regular access to the internet or educational technology. These students begin the year 2-4 months behind academically and then have the challenge of learning English at the same time. The amazing thing is that they can be quite successful with proper support.
