"Children want the same things we want. To laugh, to be challenged, to be entertained, and delighted."- Dr. Seuss. I am so lucky to teach a room full of students with different interests, life-goals, backgrounds and learning styles. My job is to help students figure out how to take responsibility for their own learning. Part of this is choosing a spot in the room that best fits his or her needs. Some choose tables where they can collaborate with classmates, others choose to find a spot on the floor where they find comfort and a few even choose to stand. My first graders attend a Title I school in the Midwest. They are curious, excitable and striving to be the best they can. They excel when their learning style is accepted and encouraged. Every child deserves to love school and to learn something new every day!
