First graders are excited about reading and exploring the world around them. Non-fiction text is of great interest to them, but as beginning readers they aren't always able to read the books that they find in the school library. Scholastic News and Science Spin magazines will allow them to learn about current events around the world and engage in non-fiction text on their reading level. The digital editions that will be available will allow them to utilize the listen-to-the-text audio to build fluency. For our English language learners, Spanish is also available so that they can share with their families at home.
