Imagine never going on a summer vacation. Imagine never having been more than 30 miles from your home and never even experiencing the wonders of your own home state. My students are wonderful kids who show up every day giving their best to their education. Our school is set in a very small town that has been hit extraordinarily hard by the tough economic times. Our school is over 60% free and reduced lunch, which reflects the low income status of our community. We make do with very little funds and a lot of creativity in order to make education exciting and relevant. Even with limited funding our school is seeing big achievements. We have a large, and growing, body of National Honor Society students. We are starting debate and drama clubs in response to student interest. One of the highlights for our 8th grade students is the opportunity to take part in a 43 mile hike to one of the wilderness areas in our region. We are proud of our school and are an integral part of our small town.
