I am a second grade teacher at a failing Title I school. That said, we are working diligently to increase our student's learning opportunities and their test scores. My students LOVE to learn and I want to provide them with as many hands-on experiences and expose them to high quality complex books. I want to ignite a spark for learning and turn it into a raging three-alarm fire! Bringing academic concepts alive is a high priority. To do that, I need additional resources! Further, to meet Common Core standards, I need to stock our classroom library with all genres of books and get class sets of books that we can read together. These complex and informational texts will help increase their higher order thinking skills. Please consider funding a project to increase my students' lifetime opportunities and put them on equal footing with affluent peers. Zip codes should not matter in the quality of education!!
