My students unfortunately do not live at home. Most are in state's custody, awaiting a foster home or other situations. These students have not had the ideal childhood thus far, they live and go to school on the same campus. Hence why we dont have a PTA or support/assistance group to provide beyond necessities. They have to learn with more distractions than most adults can handle. As an educator I strive to make learning interesting, relative and engaging. My kids love coming to class and even try so hard not to miss class. Sometimes as a teacher with this demographic, my students have their first positive school memories.
