I love being a first grade facilitator who teaches children to transfer their excitement for learning to read, write, and learning numeracy strategies into life long learning skills demonstrated by completing group work and independent study. I want each of my students to have the materials necessary to go beyond the basics of decoding the sounds in the basal to using higher level thinking skills to the point where they are applying the information they research. Students will learn in-depth knowledge about the concepts that are introduced in our units of study. I want to provide my students access to a big selection of non-fiction and core concept literature in literacy and numeracy on their reading levels so they can practice using their skills of reading informational text. Students will practice comprehension skills through writing activities and projects using the arts. Creativity is a vital part of learning!
