These materials will enable me to create seven breakout boxes to bring the excitement and challenge of an escape room into the classroom. The boxes will contain clues that students will have to solve. After solving one clue they move onto the next, similar to how an escape room works. Using the escape room technique with students is an excellent way to practice and reinforce Social Emotional Learning as well as 21st-century skills. Working in teams of 3-4, students must collaborate, communicate, think critically and be creative to escape the breakout challenge. These boxes can be used as a stand-alone lesson without technology or can be used in a hybrid way that involves solving online riddles and clues as well as ones with paper and pencil.
