My students are from a high poverty area. Many don't have two parent families, and are often a brother or sister to many other siblings. Sometimes they must be the mother or father to younger siblings. They often don't get to eat or sleep very much at night and have trouble focusing during the day. Many are very bright but have challenges that stand in their way. It's my job to help break down those barriers and let them have an equal chance to succeed.
