Our students are generally the lowest performing students in the school. The "General English 10 Class" is for those students struggling with reading and writing. They have experienced disappointment in past courses regarding reading. They often see themselves as poor students and claim they "never do well" in school. Our rural district is facing the same challenges as all districts: declining funding. As our staff has determined that improving literacy in all forms of text is our student body's greatest need, we have focused our course on that goal. Students are required to read in and out of class.
