I teach in a rural Alabama school where 76% of my students eat free & reduced lunch. I have been teaching here for 8 years & love these students! I have been teaching 8th grade Physical Science & have built a large supply of materials & resources. However, I am being moved to 7th grade Life Science next year (most of my supplies will be useless) & I have been charged with improving the curriculum, raising achievement & test scores, as well as improving behavior management in a difficult age student. One thing I know about teaching middle school is that in order to reduce behavior problems they have to be busy & engaged in meaningful activities. My goal next year is increase the number of hands-on learning activities that I have access to in my classroom for my students to use &learn from.
